Why We Like Rick
Although Santorum’s surges in the polls were later in the game, and still not a solid force, Rick Santorum is the candidate of choice for Conservative Beat. Why? This conservative candidate has the least baggage of the rest, while maintaining a career of integrity and solid right-winged decisions. He hasn’t flip-flopped yet, a quality most candidates lack.
What Matters Most
The main points that stick out from Santorum’s platform.
1. Repealing ObamaCare and putting in its place a more stable insurance program. See his plan for “patient-centered healthcare” here: http://www.ricksantorum.com/repeal-and-replace-obamacare-patient-centered-healthcare
2. Appointing Constitutionalist Judges. As folks that stand by the Constitution and it’s history and original intent, we applaud Santorum for making a point to add this to his platform, seeing as it could be pertinent to whoever is in office the next 4 years.
3. Defending 2nd Amendment Rights for Americans. “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.” -Gerald Ford. The founders allowed us the right to bear arms because they saw government as inherently evil and corrupt, and wanted to allow for protection and revolution.
4. Supporting the Lives of the Unborn. Santorum is a Pro-Lifer, engaging in legislation that supports young mothers in motherhood or adoption, and encourages proper care for them and their children, while opposing abortion.
5. Immigration Reform that Will Strengthen Us Economically and Defense-wise. Immediately stop benefits to illegal aliens and encourage the proper citizenship of all people. See the full plan here: http://www.ricksantorum.com/immigration-reform-securing-and-strengthening-america
Rumor Has It
Although many have made claims that Santorum will attempt to “ban contraception,” the allegations are completely false. Although as a Catholic, Santorum personally disagrees with the use of contraception as well as homosexuality, he does not agree that either are political issues, and would never push them into his platform.
“I didn’t vote for any kind of ban on contraception, nor did I vote for any ban on sodomies, nor would I as president,” he told CNN’s John King this week. “I don’t believe that everything that is immoral should be illegal. The government doesn’t have a role to play in everything that, you know, that either people of faith or no faith think are wrong or immoral. That was one. And I said it at the time that I wouldn’t have voted for the Texas sodomy law that was in place nor would I vote to ban contraception, even though I think that – as a Catholic who the Catholic Church teaches that contraception is wrong - I would not do it myself.” (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/01/santorum-logic-on-contraception-homosexuality/)

I did see a similar pattern at the one I went to, so I can see where you’re coming from. I’d recognize that a lot of the people there might not be open to ethnic relations, but if they decided to take it to a dangerous level racially, I hope they would pull away from the Tea Party name. The racists in the group have really, really ruined it for everyone else.

No problem, it’s always a goal of ours to leave no space in our minds untouched.
Honestly, the Tea Party movement has evolved from its original intent. Though I do not speak for the whole team, I am not necessarily a supporter, nor do I oppose the actions. It’s confusing.
I think their protest vary from group to group, which is part of the problem as one movement that supposedly is trying to work together. I have been to rallies that were strictly opposing taxation, and were simply fiscal conservatives that were sort of enraged, but then you see accounts on the news of Tea Party activists wanting to “Impeach Obama.”
I do not think the movement itself is racist, because it’s original intent was to fight taxation. I believe few racist radicals spoke in a large crowd, and really ruined the reputation of the whole movement. Who wants to be associated with that?
I think anything is possible when it comes to a band of pissed-off people who might evolve, weeding out the people who were there on fiscal premises and attracting more radical racists or “purists.” I do not predict it getting to that point, only because as a nation they are frowned upon and really don’t have much authority at this point, but really, that can always change with time and the right resources. But for right now with the current momentum, I do not see it going down that path.
Thanks so much for your question! Great start to our morning.
As someone representing a different side of the spectrum, what are your views on the movement?

Woh, someone’s a bit worked up already.
I don’t see any harm in the post made by my colleague, there’s no insult intended. After all, we’re here to rant too, eh? It’s blogging.
If you’d like to post a topic for discussion, we’d love to hear it! It is free discussion, but as a conservative blog, you can expect party bias. We’re not going to attack anyone, though our team’s basic conservative views might offend some people I suppose.
What’s a topic in the news lately that you’re passionate about?
Thanks for the ask!
I do realize that though bloggers are all sorts of people, the majority are liberal ranters whining about humanitarian causes. We, at Conservative Beat, don’t fit that label.
That doesn’t mean we don’t love our liberals! Discussions open minds, so feel free to communicate with us freely, as adults.
First, we’d like some suggestions on our discussions. Our “Ask” button is the key to our minds. Suggest, question, discuss anything and we’ll post it, no matter what. All of our discussions and posts will be based off of Ask-submissions. Anonymous posts are enabled, so have fun! Tell us what you want to hear about first. Nothing is off-limits.
